Welcome to the Old Wild West. This site will feature stories of the Old West gleaned from Abilene Reporter-News archives, The Grady McWhiney Research Foundation resources and other historical documents available to us.

OldWildWest.com is one of many online ventures offered by the Abilene Reporter-News, one of the oldest online newspapers in Texas (February 1995). For many years, people from all over the world have visited our family of web sites. From feedback we've received from them, it is evident that there is a real thirst for additional information on that colorful part of American history that lasted only a couple of decades but -- for the great interest shown in it -- might as well have endured to this day ... especially in Texas.

With the help of The Grady McWhiney Research Foundation, executive director Donald S. Frazier, Ph.D. and his colleagues at McMurry University, we are finally able to showcase this part of Texas history that captures the imagination of so many people.
